Experience the beautiful Abel Tasman coast track from Totaranui to Kaiteriteri at your own walking pace with expert guides including boat back-up if required. This walk is ideal for people who are short on time and want to walk the length of the 38 km Abel Tasman Coast Track, including a scenic cruise along the coastline.

Day 1: Nelson
On arrival make your way to the Rutherford Hotel and explore the city of Nelson known for its local arts and craft stores, art galleries and quirky cafes.
Day 2: Nelson / Motueka to Torrent Bay
Todays walk follows the gentlest grade of the coastal track through to Marahau where you will be in awe with the panoramic views across Tasman Bay to Nelson. This is a day rich in history as your guide recounts stories of how major landmarks were named by early settlers. You will discover the pristine bays and headlands named by French Explorer, Du’mont Durville in 1827.
The tides will determine whether you walk around the inlet taking in the views overlooking Anchorage Beach or we take the fun short cut across the inlet to reach the main coastal track.

Day 3: Torrent Bay to Awaroa
Your walk today follows the coastal track through cool native forest and reaches golden sand beaches, perfect for swimming. Start with a relaxing breakfast overlooking Meadowbank’s gardens and the beautiful waters beyond, then choose how much walking you want to do – your guide will arrange boat transfers to suit your needs.
Leave Torrent Bay to enjoy a morning walk through native forest with magnificent coastal views with a crossing of a swing bridge at Falls River.
Visit places of historical and scenic interest, including the abandoned Tonga Quarry.
From Onetahuti, walk over the Tonga Saddle to Meadowbank Homestead in Awaroa

Day 4: Awaroa to Nelson / Motueka via Totaranui
After breakfast we start the walk back to Totaranui. Cross the Awaroa estuary and be introduced to its fascinating history.
Walk through the northern forest of the park with magnificent specimens of Nikau Plan and Rata trees.
At Totaranui, join our comfortable launch to cruise the coastline you have just walked. Hot drinks, covered or open decks and bathroom facilities are available on board.
Stop at the golden expanse of Anchorage Beach where you can choose to laze or stroll the beach or take a fascinating walk around Pitt Head, site of an ancient Maori Pa with stunning views along the coast. Then rejoin the Vista Cruise to Kaiterteri.
Our coach will be there to meet you and return you to Nelson or Motueka.
