Lady elliot island
Lady Elliot Island is the southernmost coral cay of the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. The island lies 46 nautical miles north-east of Bundaberg and covers an area of approximately 45 hectares. It is part of the Capricorn and Bunker Group of islands and is owned by the Commonwealth of Australia.
It is home to over 1200 species of marine life including brilliantly coloured fish, starfish, sea cucumbers, crabs, anemones, urchins and turtles.
You can circumnavigate the island exploring it’s bird habitat and native flora, watch the sun set and just enjoy the remoteness of the island.
Turtle season is a highlight where you can witness the emerging hatchlings between January and April, a treat you need to see at least once in your lifetime.
