Explore the beautiful Far North Queensland on this active itinerary to experience the Rainforest, the Rivers and the Nocturnal wildlife of the Daintree. Challenge yourself to a rainforest hike on the Lamb Ranges followed by a river tubing adventure.
We end our adventure with an afternoon and evening in the diverse habitat of the Daintree Tropical Rainforest for a dining experience amongst the rainforest before heading off on our nocturnal walk.

Day 1: Cairns
On arrival make your own way to the Hilton Cairns.
Explore the city at your leisure.
Day 2: Hike Day
Today is hike day. Meet in the lobby at 6.45 or your pick up.
Hike is classed as ‘Difficult’ (recommended for experienced hikers)
FNQ Nature Tours is the only Cairns tour operator offing guided Hiking Experiences, we don’t expect see much traffic on the walk! The beautiful Lamb Range is an hour drive West of Cairns and towers high above the Dinden National Park surrounds.
The track consists of open woodland, giant gum trees, savanna habitat and beautiful iconic Xanthorrhoea grass trees. As we gain height we’ll notice abrupt granite boulders coursing the summit area, providing spectacular scenery.
The trail is a 10 kilometre experience of a lifetime. The Rainforest habitat near the summit with its beautiful Oraniopis palms and Cycads will amaze you! Experience the smells and sounds of the ancient Wet Tropical Rainforest.
Day 3: Tubing
Meet in the lobby for your 7.45am pick up.
This is a day river tubing activity is a great way to get out and explore nature’s them park in Tropical North Queeensland. This fun and exciting tour is a safe water activity, which includes calm water drifting and small rapids on professional, high quality, twin chamber tubes all surrounded by some stunning scenery. It is suitable for all experience levels but the minimum age to participate is 5yrs
Our guides are certified with the International Rafting Federation, a world wide organisation setting the standard in the rafting industry. Regular ongoing River Rescue and First Aid training ensures our guides maintain high safety standards on every tour.
Day 4: Nocturnal Rainforest Walk
Meet in the lobby by midday for your pick up
Experience the magical Great Barrier Reef Drive heading north on the region’s most scenic coastal highway. Observe the changes in habitat diversity as we get closer to the Daintree Tropical Rainforest.
Cruise the beautiful Daintree River spotting wildlife on a quiet, clean solar electric boat with zero environmental impact. Get closer to nature… hear, smell & experience without noise & fumes. Afternoon tea included prior departure. We have a 99% success rate for spotting crocodiles, excellent bird watching opportunities and other wildlife such as snakes, frogs and fish and bats. The cruise is one hour.
Every nature lover’s dream can be found in the Daintree National Park. Enter the lands of the local Kuku Yalanji people while taking in the beauty of the pristine rainforest, cool streams, towering mountains and freshwater valleys that captivate our visitors. This living museum is an area of ancient tropical rainforest spanning 120,000 hectares, making it the largest tropical rainforest in Australia. We walk numerous tracks to witness the complex ecosystems in this World Heritage Area and perhaps a swim during the summer months.
This famous valley resembles a giant amphitheatre with a semicircle of hills dominated by Mt Sorrow (850m) and Mt Hemmant (1000m). From several lookouts the afternoon lighting on the beach is gorgeous. We often spend an hour exploring the natural assets of the coastline.
Dinner at Whet Restaurant combines the natural wonder of the surrounding jungle with its unique and casual atmosphere. Located right in the heart of Cape Tribulation, and aptly named to “whet your appetite”, the delicious range of cuisine on offer at Whet Restaurant is sure to make your visit to the Daintree memorable.
A wildlife tour in Far North Queensland is not complete without a night walk. Much of the local wildlife has adopted a nocturnal lifestyle to avoid to heat of the day in the tropical climate. Perhaps the most unique part of this experience is to observe nocturnal wildlife in the Wet Tropics.
